As we are getting closer to eCamp (exactly 48 days away!) we just wanted to give you some ideas on how to practice self-care during eCamp so that you can get the most out of the programs we are getting ready for you!
Here are some things that you can implement during your day to make sure you are taking care of yourself during these tough times. This not only works for eCamp, but beyond that! ENJOY!
Have a Dedicated Space for Camp
Having a dedicated space for camp will not only help you get into the camp mindset, but it will make sure you are prepared and ready to go each day. This space can be anywhere that works and you can set it up the way it works for you. You can add pictures or special things that remind you of camp to add a little extra to your space!
Keep a Routine
Routine can be very helpful, especially when you are moving into a new and exciting situation such as eCamp! Have a routine that woks for you. Whether you have a summer job or other responsibilities along with eCamp, this will help you be successful this summer. Writing down this routine can help you hold yourself accountable and make sure you are getting the most out of your summer!
Practicing acts of gratitude can actually change the brain to focus on the positive and help you feel more at ease in times of stress. Intentionally think of 3 things you are grateful for each day. You can share this with your counselor, another camper, or a member of your family.
Even though we have moved to the online platform for the summer, we still truly believe in the power of going outside! Taking breaks from technology and going for a walk, or even sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air will help give your brain a break and can even boost your mood. Taking time to bring activities outside from eCamp, when possible, will help you create a wonderful eCamp experience.
Check in with Counsellors or a Positive Friend
Reaching out to a counsellor or a friend to chat is a great way to relax. If there is something that is bothering you, or giving you a lot of stress or anxiety it is always a good idea to talk it out with a trusted person. Also this may not necessarily be negative, maybe you have something exciting to share that your friend will enjoy. Just remember to be supportive of each other, we are all in this together!
The experience you have this summer at eCamp will be a summer you will never forget, so make it a good one! Try and participate, and be active in the eCamp community as much as you are able to. Also, make sure you are taking time every day to do something that makes you happy! Whether this is drawing, going for a walk, or journaling just to name a few.
We are looking forward to virtually seeing you all soon!
