As we are already into June and Pride month is well underway, we wanted to take this opportunity to talk about why pride is so important!
Pride can mean many things to many people and is an important statement of how far the community has come and how far it needs to go. A month to celebrate who you are and take up space in a world that sometimes does not understand or accept you can mean the world to some folks. Take this month to reflect on yourselves, your identity. Allies, take this month to reflect on how you can use your voice to promote inclusion in your community.
Although there is a month to celebrate Pride, you should be celebrating each day. Taking time to reflect on your life journey, how far you’ve come and how far you have yet to go. Celebrate and be proud of who you are, no matter how you identify!
At Tims Camps, we embrace our campers and families of all identities and are deeply committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment while celebrating campers for who they are.
Check out what some folks have to say when we asked “What does pride mean to you?”
“Celebrating who I am!”
“[To] celebrate who you are!”
“It means that I have actually found myself enough.”
“Pride is supporting the people around me who haven’t had much support. Just ‘cause they’re different.”
“Pride means how far the queer community has come.”
“It’s about accepting (people’s) differences and showing it proudly.”
